Butte, MT, March 10, 2008

Today Resodyn™ Acoustic Mixers, Inc., announced the commercial availability of the RAM5, a production scale mixer based on the company’s proprietary ResonantAcoustic® Mixing technology. This revolutionary mixing technology uses low-frequency, high-intensity acoustic energy to produce a consistent shear field throughout the mixing vessel causing rapid fluidization and dispersion of material. It offers processors improved product quality and increased production efficiency.

The RAM5 mixes without impellers and is capable of mixing one pound (500 grams) to 80 pounds (35 kg) of material. Various combinations of gases, liquids, solids, powders, viscous liquids and pastes are thoroughly and consistently mixed with this innovative technology. The RAM5 is the only noninvasive mixer capable of mixing over 10 kg of materials with viscosities beyond 100 million cP. Because the RAM5 is a non-invasive mixer, mixing can be done in sealed vessels of varying sizes and design. The RAM5 can accommodate disposable or end-use vessels such as 6 gallon steel drums. The RAM5 generates a fluidized system with small vortices that homogenize materials much faster and with less heat generation than occurs in impeller systems, where heat and mixing are localized around the impeller. The RAM5’s unique mixing mechanics coupled with flexibility in the design of the mixing vessel, allows the reformulation of products around new manufacturing processes.

Additional information about the RAM5 mixer and ResonantAcoustic® Mixing technology may be obtained from Resodyn™ Acoustic Mixers, Inc., by calling 406-497-5333, by emailing info@resodynmixers.com, or by visiting www.resodynmixers.com

Resodyn™ Acoustic Mixer, Inc.’s, benchtop mixer, the LabRAM, was highlighted in the December 2007 issue of Processing magazine as one of the selected Breakthrough Products of the Year. Widely regarded as one of the most prestigious awards given in the processing industry, this was Processing’s 10th year of recognizing truly innovative products.

From the article…

In the fall of 2006 Resodyn Acoustic Mixers, Inc., commenced producing mixers utilizing the company’s proprietary technology, ResonantAcoustic® Mixing (RAM). A U.S. patent for this technology [was] issued in March 2007. The first product to launch was the LabRAM ResonantAcoustic® Mixer, a laboratory mixer that can mix up to 1 pint. Production scale products for mixing 5 gallons and 55 gallons will be commercially available in late 2007 and 2008, respectively. RAM is a new approach to solving mixing and dispersion problems that is distinct to either conventional impeller agitation, or ultrasonic mixing. Low-frequency, high intensity acoustic energy is used to create a uniform shear field throughout an entire mixing vessel. The result is rapid fluidization and dispersion of material. A consistent mixture is achieved very quickly. Production cycle times can be reduced, or process steps can be eliminated, while at the same time improving product quality and consistency. Since RAM technology uses no impellers, cleanup time and product waste are reduced. There are no localized areas of high shear typically found in conventionally mixers using impellers. Heat generation is minimal. The RAM technology is ideal for thermally sensitive or high value materials. RAM technology is suitable for mixing gases, liquids, solids, powders and very viscous compounds. RAM offers flexibility in vessel size and design. It provides the opportunity to mix in disposable containers, seal vessels, or in the end-use container. In-vessel sealed mixing is particularly desirable for hazardous materials, or pharmaceutical compounds. RAM is totally new and novel technology which will enable new process and product innovations. “Our testing with ResonantAcoustic® technology has demonstrated filler incorporation at phenomenal rates and with very little viscous heating. This technology could have a far broader impact on the chemical industry than anyone is imagining today,” Dr. Sue Gelderbloom, Senior Process Engineering Specialist Dow Corning.

Resodyn Corporation receives patent for a unique technology that uses low-frequency, high intensity sound energy for mixing.

Butte, MT August 24, 2007

Resodyn Corporation announced today that it has been awarded U.S. Patent 7,188,993 by the United States Patent and Trademark Office. The patent which issued March 13, 2007, is entitled “Apparatus and Method for Resonant-Vibratory Mixing” and addresses the equipment and process for intimate mixing of gas-liquid, liquid-liquid, liquid-solid, and solid-solid systems.

The technology uses low-frequency, high-intensity sound energy for mixing. The range of applications for this technology extends from heavy-duty agitation for preparation of highly viscous polymers to delicate and precise mixing required for the preparation of pharmaceuticals. The technology may be applied to the complex mixing requirements of cosmetics and even the processing of biological cultures in which living organisms must remain viable through the mixing process. The patent describes a novel mixer, driven by an electronically controllable motor or motors, which may be adapted to allow virtually unlimited control of the mixing process.

“The apparatus and methods described and claimed in this patent offer an entirely new technology for mixing,” explained Larry Farrar, President of Resodyn Corporation. “With the issuance of this patent the company is now aggressively marketing innovative mixers using resonant acoustic technology. Applications as diverse as metal-loaded pastes, nanomaterials and cosmetics are using this technology in ways that totally change the way products are mixed and processed. The cost savings and improved mixing will have a significant impact on the processing industry. This technology will enable the manufacture of new and advanced products.”

Resodyn Acoustic Mixers has successfully commercialized this technology under the ResonantAcoustic® Mixers trademark to solve laboratory and production scale mixing problems. For additional information regarding this patent or the commercial products based on this technology please call 406-497-5333, email info@ResodynMixers.com, or visit www.resodynmixers.com
